Stone Structures (2019)
Stone Structures: Montbrun, 2019. Acrylic and mixed media on hemp, 18″ x 24″
In 2019, I had the opportunity to do a residency at Greywood Arts, in Killeagh, County Cork, Ireland. During that time, I traveled on the west and south coasts of Ireland, and became fascinated with the artifacts of the ongoing relationship between humans and stone that I saw –from ring forts more than one thousand years old to churches from the 18th century to stone walls running through the mountains. I also traveled to southwestern France and observed abandoned stone structures in the Gorges du Tarn region. These structures were all in dialogue with the more-than-ecosystems that were retaking them.Â
