Reynisfjara, 2017. Acrylic and mixed media on hemp, 36″ x 48″
In 2017 I traveled to Iceland for an artist residency. Prior to this trip, I had begun incorporating abstracted elements of landscapes I directly witnessed into my work; in Iceland I became fascinated with rock formations. I made a series of drawings and paintings based on Icelandic geology that extended to rock formations in other parts of the world, including Wyoming, Connecticut, and closer to home in the Wissahickon Valley Park.
